Stillwater, Oklahoma, was recently named by Golf Digest as one of the nation's top places to retire… and play golf. There are two public golf courses within a 15-minute drive of downtown (and another under development in 2005), a 3-par/9-hole course within city limits, Stillwater Country Club's 18-hole course, and Karsten Creek, a 72-par/18-hole 7,290 yard course designed by Tom Fazio.
The Stillwater Chamber of Commerce involved Innovative Communications, Inc., and subsequently, Halley's Design, in the design of a promotional brochure advertising Stillwater's advantages as a retirement community. In addition to golfing opportunities, Stillwater offers affordable housing, cultural activities in the community and associated with Oklahoma State University, and excellent medical facilities.
design challenges: Using high-color photos of the OSU campus, downtown Stillwater, and, of course, the area's golf facilities, this 3-panel brochure incorporated 18 copy points (with a golf flag "bullet") to point out the benefits of retiring in Stillwater.
