Working with the OSU Media Relations staff, Halley's Design has designed media guides for the football, men's basketball, and men's and women's golf programs since 1995. Media guides serve two purposes: the first, as the repository of all current, and historical, data concerning the particular athletic program for use by news and braodcast media. Secondly, media guides serve as PR and recruiting tools for the university and the particular sport.
design challenges: The NCAA sets some rules for the design of these guides — the inside content must be all black/white or grayscale — but, otherwise, the design needs to convey 250-plus pages of information clearly and compellingly. Luckily, OSU is fortunate to have some incredibly talented sports photographers who provide great material. And, the printing of these guides is ably done by Transcript Press, Norman, Oklahoma.
